Carpenter Ants with The Ant-Ser Man

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Ants are known to be one of the smallest pests, but one type of ant, the Carpenter Ant, can grow to be almost 1 inch in length. They are easily mistaken for termites because they can be winged and are most commonly found in damp wood where they like to build nests. They don’t actually eat the wood like termites, but they do hollow it out to make passageways, damaging wooden structures. You can follow the trail of sawdust-like material they leave behind to track them down, although sometimes it can be difficult if they’re nesting behind walls. You can easily tap baseboards or areas throughout the house where you think they might be nesting and listen for a hollow sound. If any ants are disturbed, they can make a “rustling” sound-similar to crinkling cellophane.
In a house, they are most common around and under windows, roof eaves, decks or porches, behind dishwashers or sinks, and around bathtubs. We have many products that are easy to use and will defend your home from any damage caused by these ants. If you have any questions we are available for a free consultation or a house call. We specialize in making you happy.
